Lyndsay Munich wins songwriter contest

Lyndsay Munich recently won the Lucille & Jack Yellen Foundation Songwriter’s Scholarship sponsored by the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame in collaboration with the Lucille and Jack Yellen Foundation. The contest was open to area high school and college students and included a performance at the Hard Rock Cafe in Niagara Falls, NY.

So what did Lyndsay win? She gets a full day of recording at Robby Takac’s GCR Recording Studio. Her winning song will be recorded and mastered, followed by a paid performance at the Hard Rock Cafe and a spot on the upcoming Buffalo Music Hall of Fame compilation CD. Meanwhile, Hall of Fame inductees will be on hand as session musicians and mentors.

Lyndsay is just finishing up her senior year at West Seneca High School.

When she’s not singing or going to school, she’s also practicing several instruments, including violin, bass, and the acoustic guitar.

Meanwhile, she has come up with several coloring books and offers lessons on how to draw… here’s the link for those.

Buffalo Short Commute City

I’m pleased to learn that Buffalo has the shortest commute time of the 50 major metro areas in the USA. According to, the commute time average for Buffalonians clocks in at 20.3 minutes, which beats the national average by 6.9 minutes! No wonder Buffalo has long been known as “The 20 Minute City.”

To put this Buffalo short commute time in perspective, lets say you lived in New York City. There you’d spend about 125 hours or three work weeks extra in your car or truck compared to Buffalo.
